Oriental Turtle-Dove
At a Glance
Very common in eastern Asia, and migratory in the northern part of its range, this dove has strayed to Alaska several times. Records elsewhere in North America might have involved birds that had escaped from captivity.

Description
13-14" (33-35 cm). A large dove with a bold scaly pattern above, created by rich rufous, buff, or whitish edges on the dark feathers of the back, scapulars, and wings. Head and underparts mostly smooth buffy gray, with a patch of black and white lines on side of neck.
