About the Bird: In the forests of northeastern North America, Black-throated Blue Warblers spend their summers sifting through the understory in search of insects. At 3 degrees of warming, practically all of their breeding habitat could become unlivable鈥攙ersus retaining half at 1.5 degrees.
About the Artist: , a.k.a. minusbaby, was raised in the Lower East Side and Spanish Harlem neighborhoods of New York City. He studied at and dropped out of the Cooper Union鈥檚 art school, and in the years since, has built a strong reputation as an influential pixel artist, internationally recognized , and medium-defying collaborator. The migration of the Black-throated Blue Warbler from the northeastern United States to the Caribbean at the onset of chilly weather parallels his grandmother鈥檚 own trips from NYC to her native Puerto Rico and back. 鈥淭he symbols鈥攁t once familiar, but essentially indecipherable鈥攔eference its calls and song,鈥 he says of the mural. 鈥淚 have a thing for black, white, and blue, too.鈥
