It was a two-for-one special: Alice Cahill got her photo of the day, while her subject got the catch of the day.
It all took place in Morro Bay, California, where Cahill was observing sea otters. When a double-crested cormorant flew in and started feeding, she changed the focus on her camera. She found the bird's bushy white eyebrows鈥攆eathery tufts that appear on a male cormorant's head during breeding season鈥攅specially endearing.
Cahill strives to document the behavior of birds in her photographs, while also showcasing their plumage. As an , she has won multiple accolades, including the grand prize in 约炮视频's . "I think my most successful pieces are artistic statements," Cahill says. This one in particular, also happens to be a testament to the culinary compulsions of a cormorant.
