Accentors make up a family of about a dozen species of small songbirds of Europe and Asia. This one is a rare but regular stray to the islands of western Alaska in fall. A few have been found in western Canada and the northwestern U.S. in fall, winter, and spring, and individuals stayed for entire winters in Idaho and Montana. Usually forages on the ground, creeping or hopping about close to dense thickets.
