At a Glance
Accentors make up a family of about a dozen species of small songbirds of Europe and Asia. This one is a rare but regular stray to the islands of western Alaska in fall. A few have been found in western Canada and the northwestern U.S. in fall, winter, and spring, and individuals stayed for entire winters in Idaho and Montana. Usually forages on the ground, creeping or hopping about close to dense thickets.

Description
5 1/2" (14 cm). A small, thin-billed bird with a strong face pattern. Wide orange-buff eyebrow contrasts with blackish crown and face patch, gray nape. Orange-buff throat fades to paler breast and whitish belly, with dark streaks along sides. Brown upperparts with one narrow white wing-bar.
